Elegant antique matchbox, known as a pyrogene. Made of gilded brass, it features a sober and refined decoration of fine regular striations, typical of utilitarian women's accessories from the late 19th century.
Equipped with its original side ring, it could be hung on a chatelaine or worn on a belt.
The striated base allowed matches to be lit, recalling the ingenuity and elegance of everyday objects from yesteryear.
