Pretty advertising tin for Chat Noir - Zwarte Kat coffee (Belgium).
It features French and Dutch inscriptions: "Chat Noir, l'ami de la maison!" (Black Cat, the friend of the home!), "Zwarte Kat, de vriend des huizes!" (Black Cat, the friend of the home!).
It is made of gilded metal, with red and black printing, and was manufactured in England.
It dates from the mid-20th century (1950s-60s), even though it mentions "Anno 1804", which refers to the founding date, by Bernard Van Zuylen, of a coffee and tropical goods store in Liège, which was the origin of the brand. However, the "Chat Noir" brand was born in 1920.
This charming tin can be used as a coffee, tea, or biscuit tin, but also repurposed as a treasure box or a vintage decorative item.
