Magnificent fruit bowl (or centerpiece) in opalescent molded pressed glass, mounted on a chrome metal base, itself fixed on a rosewood base.
It seems to be a production by Edmond Etling, dating from 1925-1930, typical of Art Deco. The signature seems to be inside the bottom of the bowl, to be checked (I didn't want to dismantle it).
Art dealer, Edmond Etling was a major publisher of molded pressed glass objects during the 1920s - 1930s. For his creations, he surrounded himself with renowned Art Deco artists: Lucille Sévin and her representations of female nudes, Georges Béal for his floral decorations and pine cone motifs, Maurice Guiraud, Géza Hiecz ...
In a different field than pressed glass, Edmond Etling also published the famous bronze and ivory statues (chryselephantine) by Démêtre Chiparus.
Edmond Etling's artistic quality was compared to that of René Lalique. Cristallerie de Sèvres produces pieces from the molds of models that the artist still owned, then Choisy le Roi (1932) and Vannes le Châtel currently.
This bowl is of high quality and in perfect condition (a very slight oxidation of the chrome, but I have not tried to clean it).
