Superb antique purse flask, dating from the 19th century, in French silver hallmarked with a boar's head, corresponding to an 800/1000 standard.
The interior is gilt, a typical arrangement for flasks intended to contain a concentrated perfume, essence, or salts, to protect the material and prevent oxidation.
The cylindrical body is entirely covered in deep midnight blue enamel, decorated in grisaille with finely painted putti, childlike figures of neoclassical inspiration very popular in the 19th century. The delicate and poetic decor evokes the intimate world of perfume and precious purse objects.
The flask retains its inner crystal stopper, which is now stuck, a common situation for antique flasks of this type.
