Pretty pair of porcelain hanging plates with patterns of flowers and butterflies for one, flowers and swallows for the other, each having gold and scalloped edges. The plates match but each have a different decor.

The one with the swallows is signed by the painter M. Dumont and has no mark on the back. The one with the butterfly bears the CFH mark on the back for Charles Field Haviland Limoges. The two are nevertheless matched.

The HAVILAND BROTHERS CIE company was created in 1835. This company, managed by the Haviland brothers, imported earthenware and porcelain into New York. In 1839, William Haviland sent two of his sons to France to Limoges, Robert and David, to look for suppliers. In 1842, David Haviland, brother of Robert, created a porcelain decoration business in Limoges then founded his own factory in 1853. In 1850, Charles Field Haviland was born in 1832 in the United States and left in 1850 for France to settle in Limoges, where he came to help his uncle David, who had also left for France a few years before to create the Haviland factory. In 1859, Charles Field Haviland in turn created his own factory. In 1924, Robert Haviland created his factory in his name Robert Haviland, which subsequently became Robert Haviland and C. Parlon during his association with Camille Parlon. Between 1950 and 1960, the factory became the most popular factory during this period. Museums, institutions and royal families call on her to decorate their tables with decorations that are as exclusive as they are extraordinary. For example, it created the Embassy service, specially dedicated to French embassies around the world. At the time, this service was decorated with a blue net highlighted with a gold thread and stamped with the RF République Française monogram. R. Haviland & C. Parlon also carries out orders for the Maharajah of Boroda, the Shah of Iran, the King of Morocco, the Count of Paris, the Sultan of Brunaï... In 2020, the porcelain factory is taken over by a new young and dynamic team to perpetuate its spirit of excellence and its high-quality craftsmanship (source: https://roberthaviland-cparlon.com/histoire/).
