Charming little antique purse made of genuine mother-of-pearl, engraved with the name of the seaside resort Granville, in Normandy.
This type of accessory was sold as an elegant souvenir in seaside resorts in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Ladies on holiday bought these delicate purses to store their coins during strolls on the promenade.
The mother-of-pearl offers superb iridescent pink, green, and golden reflections, characteristic of the shells used for precious objects of the Belle Époque.
The interior is lined with deep blue silk and features a lovely organization with four gussets, allowing coins or small items to be separated. The structure is held by an antique metal frame with a ball clasp, typical of women's accessories from the early 20th century.
An object that is at once poetic, refined, and rich in history, a testament to the elegant holidays of the Belle Époque.
