A charming and elegant carved and gilded wooden watch stand, dating from the Napoléon III period, second half of the 19th century, and featuring the decorative vocabulary of the Louis XVI style.
Designed like a true small mantel clock, it features an elegant openwork base composed of volutes, a fluted column, and foliage motifs. The rectangular body is adorned with embossed flowers and framed by decorative friezes.
The particularly elaborate upper part is topped with a carved decorative trophy. It forms a hinged lid that opens to allow the watch to be inserted and accessed.
The watch stand holds a silver-plated pocket watch, which is later than the stand and probably dates from the interwar period, circa 1920-1935. Its attractive light dial with Arabic numerals bears the inscription "CHRONOMÈTRE".

Once placed in its housing, it transforms this charming object into a small decorative clockette, while remaining easily removable.
A beautiful and charming decorative object, particularly appealing in a classic or romantic interior, or in a cabinet of curiosities.
Condition:
Good overall condition considering its age, with patina and old traces of use. There is an old crack on the upper back part of the watch housing, visible in the photographs. It does not detract from the object's presentation. A small hinge nail is not original.
