Magnificent sculpture by Louis Fontinelle (1886-1964) titled "Lady with Dogs", made of ivory craquelure glazed ceramic, typical of Art Deco.
This sculpture, dating from 1925-30, is also sometimes called "The Elegant Lady with Dogs".
The signature "Fontinelle" is located on the bottom right of the base.
Louis Fontinelle is a French sculptor and ceramist active in the 1920s-1930s. Most of his subjects, in bronze or glazed ceramic, are inspired by animals or elegant women in the spirit of Art Deco.
The "Lady with Greyhounds" is in good overall condition (to note: 1 original firing crack along the dog's back leg which does not detract from the value of the work, as well as 1 small chip on the right ear of the 1st dog and 1 mini chip on its left ear and on the drape's veil on the lady's back due to natural wear of the piece (see photos)).
Dimensions: base 50.5 cm x 10 cm, height 34.5 cm, weight 3.449 kg.
This is a charming and very decorative piece. A similar example was sold at DROUOT in 2023.
