Magnificent Art Deco vase made by Walther & Söhne in the 1930s, Windsor model (the Windsor Pattern range is featured in the 1934 product catalog).
In the shape of a tulip supported by two kneeling young women holding hands. Made of smoked pressed glass, partially frosted (the base and the young women).
Dimensions: height 20 cm, length 27.5 cm, width 19 cm, base 18 cm by 10 cm, weight 1.838 kg.
It is in excellent condition, no damage, figurines intact (just a slight roughness when running a finger over one of the figurines' brow bone, but this appears to be original), just some normal wear for its age. The color is a very chic light smoked brown!
The German company August Walther & Söhne AG (Walther & Söhne for short) was founded in 1888 by August Walther. In 1932, the company merged with Saxonian Glass and was renamed Sachsische Glasfabrik August Walther and Söhne AG. Walther & Söhne is best known for its superb range of Art Deco centerpieces, figurines, bowls, and vases, which they produced in the 1930s and 40s. They also produced a range of Cloud Glass called "Oralit". Like many German companies, the company was nationalized after World War II and became VEB Sachsenglas.
