An iconic cobalt blue glass bottle, with soft, feminine lines, illustrating all the poetry of the French art of living. The "Soir de Paris" perfume by Bourjois is a legendary fragrance launched in 1928 by the Bourjois company, then a subsidiary of Chanel, and created by the famous perfumer Ernest Beaux (the same creator as Chanel N°5).
This version, undoubtedly designed for a handbag given its size, dates from the 1950s-1960s, is rare, and was intended for the Belgian market: it features a bilingual French / English label on one side (Soir de Paris / Evening in Paris), and a bilingual French / Dutch regulated price label on the other side (Prix réglementé / Verplichtend prijs), under the A.S.PA. acronym.
The bottle still contains 2/3 of its contents and the labels are in very good condition. It features an outer metal cap and an inner cork stopper.
-
The regulated price label (with "verplichtend verkoopprijs" in Dutch) is typical of the Belgian market in the 1950s to early 60s, when cosmetic and perfume prices were regulated.
-
The shape of the stopper (threaded, with inserted cork) corresponds to industrial standards of the 50s, although the cork still recalls older practices (30s-40s).
-
The shape of the bottle and the triangular label is a design that changed little between the 30s and 60s.
