Set of two small antique cut crystal salt bottles, from the Victorian era.
This type of bottle, most often filled with stimulants based on ammonium carbonate, or various acids, was used to allow the lady prone to fainting, due to a corset that was too tight, to come back to her senses. This little object, very useful at one time, was always close at hand. Today these little miniature bottles are collected and often highly sought after.
The 1st with geometric lines has a small, simple silver cap (no hallmark), the 2nd with more rounded lines has a chiseled gilded silver cap (hallmark difficult to decipher).
Please note: the 1st is in good condition, but has 1 micro-chip on one edge and 1 under its base, the 2nd was garnished with gold motifs of which some traces remain, the cap is detached from the hinge and has a missing part. the back, the base has some small chips (see photos). However, these are objects that are more than a century old...
However, they will be charming in a collector's window or a cabinet of curiosities.
