A breath of elegance straight from the Roaring Twenties…
This large Limoges porcelain platter, adorned with a stylized basket of pink flowers and hand-gilded details, beautifully embodies the refinement of the Art Deco style.
Its contoured shape, gilded handles, and geometric and floral decor give it a unique charm. It was specially decorated for a luxury house in Brussels, as evidenced by the stamps on the back.
Indeed, the back clearly shows: 2 "LIMOGES FRANCE" stamps (in green and blue), typical of Limoges porcelain / the words "DÉCORÉ À LA MAIN" (hand-decorated) (in red) or possibly a slightly faded "DÉCORÉ MAIN" / a red "EXCLUSIF BRUXELLES" stamp indicating that this decoration was designed for a reseller or a boutique in Brussels / a handwritten inscription in pencil or pen (perhaps the name of the artist/decorator or a reference).
This wonderful Limoges porcelain platter was therefore most likely made by an unnamed house, then decorated for a luxury Brussels house, which was common in the 1920s-1930s.
This reinforces the idea of a high-quality, hand-decorated Art Deco piece with an exclusive floral decor, making it a beautiful collector's item.
To be used to serve with panache or displayed as a piece of table art.
