Vintage porcelain bird-shaped drip catcher for coffee or tea pots, dating from 1925-1940. Origin: possibly Germany.
This is a small object with 4 small holes through which an elastic band or cord was passed. The bird was placed on the lid and the attached anti-drip sponge was positioned under the spout to prevent drips, with a hook on the handle holding everything in place.
It is in good condition (note: a tiny chip on the beak, see photo, which could be concealed with a bit of black marker).
