Magnificent and rare Victorian pique photo holder pendant in tortoiseshell inlaid with small chased silver roses, gold wire stems and mother-of-pearl leaves, circa 1860.
The pendant opens and its interior is covered with purple moire paper. The 2 parts are held by a silver hinge.
A small window surrounded by a golden circle, the second probably missing, hid a photo or a lock of hair of your loved one.
This is a superb object that will delight a collector or a lover of precious jewelry or curiosities.
Object in good general condition and very charming.
Note: a few micro-cracks (see photos) and a small lack of mother-of-pearl, barely visible in the small leaves on the right front.
