Very pretty 19th-century blue cut crystal smelling salts bottle in the shape of a drop, with its silver and cork stopper held by a small chain.
This type of bottle, most often filled with stimulants based on ammonium carbonate or various acids, was used to revive ladies prone to fainting due to overly tight corsets. This very useful little object was always close at hand during that era. Today, these miniature bottles are highly collectible and often much sought after.
It will happily complete a collection of perfume or smelling salts bottles and will make a charming display item for a cabinet or curiosity cabinet.
