Elegant and rare Art Deco night light and perfume burner signed Argilor, Paris France, dating from 1925-1930.
This remarkable porcelain composition features three delicately stylized figures, gathered around an elegant young woman. Her long flared dress, the graceful postures of the two kneeling figures, and the finely drawn faces are characteristic of the Art Deco aesthetic of the 1920s.
The white porcelain is highlighted with a refined silver decoration, punctuated with a few black details and delicately painted flesh tones. The sobriety of this palette gives it a particularly modern elegance.
The piece rests on its beautiful oval thuya burl base, whose warm hues and veining contrast superbly with the whiteness of the porcelain.
Originally, this piece was designed as a night light and perfume burner: an electrical device placed under the base allowed a small bulb to illuminate the composition and diffuse perfume, poured into the small pocket of the dress provided for this purpose, under the effect of heat.
The original electrical device is no longer present. The piece is therefore offered as a decorative and collectible item, non-electrified. However, it is perfectly possible to place a small LED candle in it.
The various figures bear the painted signature "Argilor – Paris France".
The porcelain is in very good condition, with no cracks or chips noted. There is some wear and patina to the silver decoration in places, perfectly consistent with its age and visible in the photographs. The base also shows slight traces of time.
