Magnificent compact powder compact with Art Deco pattern dating from the 1930s.
Design created by René Lalique for François Coty and his perfume L'Origan (1905) which perfumes this powder.
"Oregano is one of François Coty's masterpieces. Created in 1905, it is based on a daring blend of floral notes – orange blossom, jasmine, rose, violet – enveloped in a vanilla base and enhanced with a carnation note, which made it the first spicy floral amber perfume in the history of perfumery. Its subtle accord gave it gigantic and lasting success and inspired many perfumers subsequently. From “bases” offered by composition houses which incorporated the very latest synthetic molecules, this exceptional fragrance was later used to perfume powders, particularly for the American market which was crazy about it. period that dates the term "powdered" to describe a perfume. The lid is enamel (peach, gold and white), the rest of the box is brass.
The interior lid has an intact mirror. The small pusher is missing at the clasp but the lid closes without problem. A little wear under the lid.
Engraved on the back with the Art Deco signature of Coty, Paris.
