Elegance, poetry, and history meet in this delicate antique brooch made of silver (tested) dating from the late 19th - early 20th century.
Finely openwork, it depicts a luxuriant flower basket surrounded by very fine vegetal arabesques, typical of the romantic and Art Nouveau spirit of its time. Its stylized flowers, however, foreshadow the Art Deco style that would follow.
On the back, a handwritten engraving reveals a tender secret: the name of its former owner, "Gérardine Poortman", discreetly inscribed by hand. A moving detail that gives this jewel all its charm and authenticity.
A timeless treasure, ideal for lovers of antique pieces with soul, or as a unique gift full of symbolism.
