Very lovely Biedermeier brooch (Germany) in vermeil (silver plated with 14K gold, 585/1000) and black onyx. There are 2 hallmarks on the clasp.
A small vermeil clover is inlaid in the middle of the stone.
It has a safety clasp and is in very good condition (note: some wear on the gilding from use).
This elegant brooch embodies the discreet charm of the Biedermeier era, where every piece of jewelry carried a symbol.
👉 It is very likely a sentimental rather than funerary jewel, datable to around 1835–1850, Germanic or Austro-Hungarian.
