Very pretty old Art Deco brooch, in unmarked silver filigree, decorated with an Egyptian scarab in turquoise ceramic.

In ancient Egypt, associated with the rising sun, the scarab embodied the god Khepri, who promotes life and fertility. It represents rebirth for the dead and a protective symbol for the living, which is enough to make it a meaningful amulet. Used as a hieroglyph, the scarab represents the verb to appear, become, or transform. From the end of the Old Kingdom (6th dynasty, 2374 to 2140 BC), objects in the shape of scarabs appeared. This brooch is a great example.

It has an old-fashioned "C" type clasp which is in good working order.

It is in good condition, note a small trace of wear on the right side of the beetle (see photo).

This is a rare coin and a lucky charm according to the Egyptians.

Dimensions: brooch: 4.3 cm by 3.8 cm, beetle 2 cm by 1 cm, weight 13g.
