Lovely small two-tone white and blue coffee pot in German FAS porcelain. This is a brand used by the Friedrich Adolph Schumann porcelain factory, located in Moabit, a suburb of Berlin. Founded in 1834, this factory was known for producing high-quality artistic porcelains at affordable prices. The "FAS" acronym corresponds to Friedrich Adolph Schumann's initials and was used as a brand until 1851.
The factory enjoyed considerable success, winning a gold medal at the Berlin trade exhibition in 1844, its products being compared to those of royal factories. However, difficulties arose following the 1848 revolution and increasing competition from other manufacturers. In 1868, the factory was acquired and changed its name, but eventually ceased production in 1880 (source: https://theoldstuff.com).
This piece therefore dates from the period between 1834 and 1851, making it an item of some rarity and potentially of great value to collectors.
The coffee pot is in good condition: handle, spout and lid top are impeccable, no cracks (note: 1 small chip on the inside of the lid and 1 micro-chip on the bottom of the base, see photos).
