Beautiful set of Czech ceramic spice or household jars from Ditmar, Urbach, dating from the 1930s, registered model of Blue Windmills.
These pots were used in kitchens of the past to store ingredients and spices which were generally purchased by weight. They could be the same size, but generally the capacity varied depending on the type of ingredient (large pot for pasta, small pot for spices).
Today these pretty pots are the delight of collectors and charmingly decorate our modern kitchens.
This set of spice jars, also called household jars, includes:
- 4 large jars of ingredients : sugar, rice, flour, vermicelli, with their lid (1 lid has 1 small, very slightly damaged corner, 1 other has a small loss on the inside edge, the face of 1 jar has a little damage wear in the ceramic, 1 other has a small crack, see photos). Dimensions: 15.4 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm, weight 801 g each.
- 3 small spice jars : cloves, thyme, cinnamon, with their lid (the corner of 1 lid is damaged, see photos). Dimensions: 8 cm x 5.5 cm x5.5 cm, weight 177 g each.
- 2 bottles : oil and vinegar, and their cap (the spout of the vinegar maker is slightly missing and the cap has been restored, see photos). Dimensions: 21 cm x 6.8 cm, weight 487 g each..
This is a nice, fairly complete set, so sought after. The pattern of blue windmills on a Dutch white background is charming.
