Very pretty 19th century salt bottle in blue cut crystal in the shape of a drop and the frame of its stopper in silver and cork held by a small chain.
This type of bottle, most often filled with stimulants based on ammonium carbonate, or various acids, was used to allow the lady prone to fainting, due to a corset that was too tight, to come back to her senses. This little object, very useful at one time, was always close at hand. Today these little miniature bottles are collected and often highly sought after.
It will happily complement a collection of perfume or salt bottles and will be a delightful display item or cabinet of curiosities.
This bottle is in good general condition (note: no hallmark, some signs of wear and small scratches due to use).
Dimensions: length 11 cm, width 5 cm, 63 g.
