Charming antique scent or smelling salt bottle, late 19th – early 20th century, made of blown ruby glass adorned with a filigreed gilt brass mounting. Functional hinged stopper, original chain and ring. The small inner stopper is missing, as is often the case.
Good overall condition with a lovely metal patina. Ideal for completing a collection or decorating a vanity table.

Period: 1880-1910. This type of bottle was a very fashionable lady's accessory during the Belle Époque.

The bottle is made of ruby red glass (or red tinted glass) and features a filigreed gilt brass mounting.

The decoration is delicately crafted with symmetrical vegetal arabesques, typical of Victorian Orientalist influences.

The chain and ring were used to suspend it from a chatelaine, a belt, or a minaudière.

The hinged stopper is also decorated and original.
