Pretty earthenware diamond bowl in Terre de fer Saint-Amand and Hamage Nord, blue Adrianople model from the early 20th century.
Iron Earth appeared in France around 1770 and developed after the Industrial Revolution thanks to technical progress (machine for preparing pasta, machine for calibrating plates, printing of decorations, use of coal ovens). The appellation reached its peak around 1900.
Iron Earth is a fine earthenware made whiter and more resistant thanks to the addition of feldspar (a mineral compound) and kaolin (white clay).
