Liqueur set consisting of a sandblasted glass carafe decorated with gold polka dots and stripes, a stopper and 4 glasses. Dates from the 1950s, bears the mark of the Belgian factory Boom (see original label).
"De Rupel" Boom produced a wide range of glasses and carafes, decorative objects and lighting between 1923 and 1982. The best known is the black Boom glass, decorated with gold or flowers. Here we have both gold and flower decor, here a beautiful rose and some leaves.
This year marks exactly the centenary of the creation of the De Rupel glassworks in Diepestraat in Boom. The factory, which became famous well beyond the country's borders, ceased to exist in 1982. “Over the years, the factory has undergone many developments. Also characteristic is the arrival of Paul Heller, a Czech who introduced to Boom new techniques from Bohemia, a region also known for its glass production, under the name of Aetver. Vases and glasses were sandblasted, giving the appearance of frozen glass and decorated with gold, silver and platinum, including the famous Booms black glass. But we also know opaline glass, the designer glass of Felix Van Ransbeeck or even cut crystal glass. These products of recognized quality were exported all over the world” (source: https://www.made-in.be/mechelen/honderd-jaar-geleden-werd-glasfabriek-in-boom-opgericht-paco-en -andere-spaanse-glasblazers-gaven-het-mee-vorm/).
